The San Diego Union-Tribune reported the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said there were no calls received of damage or injuries. The newspaper said some sportswriters covering the San Diego-Seattle baseball game at Petco Park felt the quake in the press box.

The 4.4-magnitude earthquake at 8.08 p.m. PDT (0308 GMT Sunday) was centered about 12 miles (20 kilometers) southeast of Anza, an unincorporated community in southern Riverside County. It struck about 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center initially measured the strength of the earthquake at 4.8 on the Richter scale.
