At 1.10 am on Tuesday the first tweet on the micro networking site Twitter read, ‘felt tremors? did u feel the same?’. Soon after news of an earthquake in spread like wild fire on social networking sites. People, especially from the central Mumbai suburbs, started talking about a possible earthquake in Mumbai.
Savita Rizhwani, a resident of Mulund said, “I felt as if my building was shaking. I think it was an earthquake.” Hari Iyer from Panvel was of similar opinion, “Felt my head spinning and saw things moving? An earthquake is it true?”
While the news is abuzz and doing rounds on the Internet, the fire control of Mumbai has clearly denied any earthquake or tremors. An officer from the fire control said, “Nothing has been reported so far and no damage has occurred, there’s no earthquake.”
Bharat Sharma, resident of Mulund, who was at his home said, “Even I could feel the whole house shaking. At first I didn’t believe it, but then my wife came and told me that even she felt the tremors and feared it was an earthquake.”
