Jennifer Aniston R Word:Sticks and stones aside, a few words do hurt. Just look at the reaction used by Dr. Laura Schlessinger on the N-word and the R-word slip, Jennifer Aniston. Earlier this week, Schlesinger said she was ending her successful radio show a week after she went to a five-minute rant in which she used the N-word 11 times.

Now Aniston is the latest celebrity to come under fire for using the word “retard”, which is considered offensive, during an interview Thursday on “Live With Regis and Kelly.”
During the discussion, dressed Barbra Streisand for Harper’s Bazaar, Aniston let the word slip.

“You’re playing dress up!” Regis Philbin to her.

“Yes, I’m playing dress up!” she said. “I do it for life, like stop!”

The reaction was immediate and harsh.

“Special Olympics has always disappointed when the R-word is used, especially by those who have influence on society”, a spokesman for the group Kirsten Seckler told ABCNews.com. “Widespread use of R-word, even unprepared self-deprecating manner, dehumanizes people with mental disabilities and perpetuate unhealthy stereotypes, which are an important source of suffering and negative perceptions.”

Aniston, who took Bill O’Reilly to task for “Good Morning America” for saying she was “destructive to our society,” when she was defending one of motherhood so far remained mum on the valve. Her rep did not respond to a request ABCNews.com for comment.

Given the controversy generated by both Schlesinger and Aniston, here’s a look at the five words that some human rights groups would like to put to bed already.

R-Word

Defending Schlesinger, Palin was attacked by the White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel – whose name she was wrong – for the use of so-called R-word at the beginning of this year.
