The phenomenal success of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ has made its protagonist Silambarsan the blue-eyed boy of many, so to say. The actor, of late, has been getting requests from some service institutions to back them in their good deeds. And he has decided to support their cause and will make an official announcement in this regard soon, said a press release.
The release added: “While applying for the UK visa for the shoot of his forthcoming film ‘Vaanam’, Silambarasan was asked to write his name by expanding initials.
When he did so, one of the officials (who knows Tamil well) saw the actor’s full name Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendran, and suggested him that he could henceforth change his name as STR, since it sounds like MGR and NTR.

The actor, who is aware that his achievements are so small when compared to that of the two great legends, is however happy with the new name and wants his fans and peers to call him that way in future.
