Jalpaiguri: A MiG 27 fighter aircraft belonging to Indian Air Force crashed at Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal at around 11.00 am on Saturday killing one person.
According to reports, the crash occurred at Chorpakhi village which falls under Maynaguri Police Station's jurisdiction in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.
The fighter jet crashed on the village destroying 4 houses and injuring a dozen villagers. Many of them are believed to be seriously injured.
They have been rushed to the Mayanguri hospital. Three children and one woman are among the injured. Unconfirmed reports also say that one person has died in the crash.
As far as the fate of the pilot flying the aircraft is concerned, he is believed to have ejected safely.
